The Genes in the Beans: High-quality reference genomes provide tools for coffee breeding improvement

Presented by Dr. Susan Strickley, Boyce Thompson Institute

In this webinar, Dr. Susan Strickler will discuss how sequencing and assembling the genomes of C. arabica, C. canephora, and C. eugenioides provided a foundation to better understand the complex evolutionary history of coffee plants and contributed to improved breeding efforts.

Learn how the assemblies of C. arabica and C. canephora were improved with Dovetail™ Hi-C scaffolding and other methods, and how comparative genomics, gene family analysis, and other studies will shed light on important features in these genomes. High-quality reference coffee genomes will provide powerful genomic tools which will be important for breeding improvement.
